Hybridization of operations research and machine learning: some practical applications

Abstract:
This talk will be in two parts. The first part is a about general concepts. In particular I'll present some basic concepts of machine learning and operations research and how they differ and complement each other. I'll also briefly present what - in my opinion - are the 3 main key concepts that are trending nowadays to tackle complexity when using analytic approaches. I'll close the first part with a discussion of 4 ways to combine machine learning and operations research. The second part is about real industrial examples and will illustrate some concepts described in the first part. I'll finish the talk by presenting what I consider the future of artificial intelligence on the short term.
